Workshop 1: June 27, 2021

Introduction to Horses

“The horse will teach you if you‘ll listen.”
Ray Hunt

Curious about horses? Maybe you loved horses as a child before grownup duties took over your life. Or you’ve always been drawn to horses, but are a little scared of them (they are pretty big, after all). Maybe your children ride and you’d like to understand their passion better. Or you would just enjoy a fun experience meeting horses in a natural setting.

Join us for the Horse Wise® Introduction to Horses Workshop in June. It is a fun way to learn about horses without having to ride them. The Horse Wise team of horses are friendly and patient teachers! They will help you with basic practical horse knowledge such as how to:

  • Relax and enjoy being around horses
  • Handle horses on the ground
  • Approach horses safely
  • Read equine personalities
  • Understand horse body language
  • Talk with horse people (or horse kids) without being confused

Format

The workshop format is supportive with demonstrations, hands-on learning and a relaxed environment. You will have close encounters with the horses, so be prepared to experience lots of horse hair on your clothing. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Cost is $75 per person. Sessions will be limited to 4 people to allow quality one-on-one time with the teacher and horses. Setting is a small, peaceful Driftwood farm with oak trees, roadrunners and friendly horses. 30 minutes from Austin and close to downtown Dripping Springs.

Teachers

Lynn Reardon and the horses.

Workshop 2: July 10, 2021

“Yoga for Horses” Workshop

Join us for the Horse Wise “Yoga for Horses” Workshop on July 10. Learn fun ground work exercises to help your horse become more supple, relaxed and fit – while also building a stronger partnership together. Horse yoga moves are different than traditional lunging work – and have great (and unexpected) results. Such as:

  • Developing confidence, willingness and trust in your horse.
  • Pinpointing muscle braces or tight areas in your horse.
  • Assessing your horse’s physical and mental approach to work (and helping you learn how to improve both)
  • Giving you a fun, new way to warm up your horse
  • Increasing your awareness of your horse’s small signals (so you can “do less sooner” with riding and handling aids)

The workshop format includes demos with Horse Wise equine teachers, plus hands-on practice with your own horse. Sessions will be limited to 4 people to allow quality one-on-one time with the teacher and horses.
